Conference for the World Environment Day, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Environmental Photography Exhibition, Michael Cacoyannis Foundation
The President and Board of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO and “Green Project” NGO are inviting you to the one-day conference for the celebration of World Environment Day 2015, entitled “Showcasing Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Greece”, which will take place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (“Kranidiotis” Amphitheatre, 1 Akademias str., Athens). The conference will be coordinated by Mr Jacques Ganoulis, Special State Secretary for Water, Ministry of Production Reconstruction, Energy & Environment, and it will be addressed by the President of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO Ms. Aikaterini Tzitzikosta. The participants will be the in the order of their appearance, Professor Christos Zerefos, Academy of Athens, Professor Dimitrios Emmanouloudis, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology, Associate Professor Elpida Kolokytha, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor Sofia Avgeinou-Kolonias, National Technical University of Athens, Associate Professor Nikolaos Zouros, University of the Aegean, Dr. Ioannis Tzortzis, President of the NGO “Green Project” and Attorney at Law at the Supreme Court, Regulatory Authority for Energy, Professor Michael Skoullos National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Vassilios Makrakis, University of Crete and Dr. Dimitrios Kalaitzidis Chairman “Aeiforum” NGO, Principal Ralleio High School. Certificates of participation will be granted.
In the evening of the same day at 20:00 at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (Piraeus 206, Tavros), the environmental photography exhibition “Green Project in South America: A journey” will be inaugurated by the Vice-President of the Foundation Ms. Xenia Kaldara and the President of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO Ms. Aikaterini Tzitzikosta. 13 Green Project travelers participate: Tilemachos Andrianopoulos, George Asimakopoulos, Athanasia Varaki, Kostis Vardas, Sofia Dassyra, Simoni Zafiropoulou, Dimitra Zirou, Vasiliki Kassoumi, Aggelos Kataggelos, Dimitris Kouletsis, Ioanna Lemoni, Yannis Tzortzis and Katerina Charterou. The exhibition is curated by George Asimakopoulos. The 33 photographs to be exhibited refer to the environment in its broader sense (urban and natural) and are distinguished by the unadulterated and clear viewpoint of the Green Project travelers, who believe that the power of photography can change our world. The photographs are personal documentations from the journey from Bogotá until the Tierra del Fuego, 17.135 km, 52 days and 8 countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile). From the 19th of July until the 7th of September 2014 51 green points of interest were photographically captured in relation to geodiversity, biodiversity, renewable energy sources, the UNESCO World Heritage Monuments, but also of everyday life. Exhibition duration: 5 - 30 June 2015. The admission is free.
